What You’ll Learn

Straw Bale Building

  • Dressing and customising bales
  • Notching round posts
  • Correct wall-building techniques
  • Pre-compression
  • Stuffing, straightening, and shaving walls

Clay Plastering

  • Preparing and mixing clay plaster
  • Applying slip coat, body coat, and finish coat
  • Tools and techniques for smooth application
  • Drying times and site considerations

Lime Plastering

  • Different approaches to working with lime
  • Choosing the right lime for the job
  • Applying body and finish coats on straw bale walls
  • Key considerations when working with lime
