Practical Straw Bale Building Course – Anglesey, North Wales

11th – 15th May 2022

Come and join us on this exciting practical straw bale building course in Anglesey, North Wales! We are working with self-builders David and Sarah who are ready for us to install the straw bales on this 1½ storey loadbearing cottage.

The course will cover practical aspects of straw bale building including:

  • How to dress and customise bales
  • How to make notches
  • Creating reveals around windows and doors
  • Making the walls straight and much more!

Salli Gosling will be your trainer. Salli is a graduate of SNaB and has lots of experience of strawbale building as well as plastering and many other skills! She will ensure course participants have a wonderful learning experience.


Course dates: 11 – 15 May 2022

Location: Isle of Anglesey, North Wales

Cost: £200 for 5-day course

Times: We will work from 8:45 – 17:00 each day

Food: Refreshments and a cold vegetarian lunch each day are included in the price

Accommodation: You will need to find your own accommodation – we can give you guidance once you have booked

The Bigger Picture!

YOU WILL NEED TO BRING WITH YOU (if you have them, we can provide most things except boots and clothing if you let us know)

  • Stout work boots, steel toe-cap if possible
  • Work clothes to keep you warm and dry (and sun protection too perhaps!)
  • Work gloves 
  • Paper and pencil
  • Water bottle

And if you have them, but not essential

  • Tape measure 
  • Claw hammer
  • Sharp knife e.g. Stanley knife 
  • Hand saw
  • Axe
